Our customer deals with special machinery that needs regular testing and maintenance. They had a desire for a durable, safe, and permanent platform to facilitate machine testing. Initially, due to their commitments, they resorted to a temporary scaffolding system for managing their testing and maintenance needs.
The ideal platform system they were seeking had to be placed inside the depot, meet specific size requirements, exhibit resistance to corrosion and high moisture, withstand exposure to chemicals and corrosive substances, be non-conductive, possess robust structural qualities, feature high-visibility colouring, and be lighter in weight compared to steel platforms.

GRP gratings proved to be a superb alternative since they weighed only one-third as much as steel. This characteristic rendered GRP easier to transport and install in any desired location.
KITE'S PART OF THE PROJECT
Kite proudly supplied our customer with a GRP platform that included high-visibility coloured GRP tubes, moulded GRP grated flooring to enhance safety by preventing potential slips for site engineers, GRP kick plates surrounding all sides of the platform to safeguard visitors at the edges, and GRP stair nosing to maximise anti-slip protection.
The platform's weight was approximately 70% less than any alternative steel option that could have been used to meet the same requirements.
