Kite Group supplied a GRP platform with moulded grating, handrails, stair nosing, and kick plates for an MOD depot, delivering a durable, lightweight, and non-slip solution.

Project Overview

Our client, operating within the MOD sector, required a durable, permanent platform system to support the testing and maintenance of specialist machinery. Initially, these activities were carried out using temporary scaffolding, but a long-term solution was needed to ensure both safety and efficiency.

The platform had to meet strict operational requirements, including:

Corrosion and moisture resistance.
Resistance to chemicals and harsh substances.
Non-conductive, safe working surfaces.
Lightweight yet structurally robust.
High-visibility safety features.
Compliance with confined indoor installation.

GRP Tubes & Handrails: High-visibility yellow rails ensured clear safety perimeters.
GRP Grated Flooring: Slip-resistant grey moulded panels provided durable walking surfaces.
GRP Kick Plates: Installed around platform edges to protect workers and visitors.
GRP Stair Nosing & Treads: Anti-slip finishes maximised safety on stairways.
Lightweight Advantage: The complete GRP system was approximately 70% lighter than a steel equivalent, making installation faster and reducing load demands.
