Project Details

Motherwell Football Club undertook a critical access and safety enhancement project at its main stand to improve secure movement for staff and maintenance personnel. The project focused on creating a safe, corrosion-resistant access route that could withstand high footfall and outdoor exposure, while maintaining the stadium’s visual standards and operational functionality.

The installation required a combination of durable, non-slip GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic) elements and robust galvanised steel handrail systems — ensuring long-term performance and compliance with height safety and access regulations.

Kite Group supplied and supported the installation of a complete, stadium-ready access and safety package engineered for durability and compliance. The system included:

• Half-height self-closing gate for controlled access and automatic closure to enhance user safety.

• Two-ball standard galvanised handrail system providing robust edge protection and clear guidance on stair approaches.

• Open Mesh Galvanised stair treads delivering high slip-resistance, fast water and debris drainage, strong load capacity, and long-term corrosion protection — ideal for exposed, high-traffic stadium environments.

• GRP yellow grating panels for highly visible, non-slip walkways that withstand weathering and heavy use.

• GRP stair nosing to define step edges and boost traction, further reducing slip hazards.

All components were fabricated to integrate with the existing steelwork and stadium colour scheme, ensuring a low-maintenance, compliant solution that improves access, safety, and visual consistency across the stand.
