Farnworth Leisure Centre Project

Project Overview

With the addition of solar panels and rooftop equipment, the Farnworth Leisure Centre required enhanced safety measures to protect technicians and maintenance staff working at height.

In collaboration with Bolton Council, the facility chose Kite Group’s Freestanding Roof Edge Protection System — a modular, self-supporting solution designed to safeguard workers without compromising roof integrity or the solar installation.

Did You Know?

The roof-edge protection standards used on this project include BS 13700, BS EN 13374, and BS EN ISO 14122-3, ensuring compliance with the highest levels of UK safety regulations for working at height.

Kite Group supplied and installed a Freestanding Roof Edge Protection System designed to provide lasting safety and sustainability benefits:

• Fall Prevention: Creates a secure barrier to prevent rooftop falls.

• Stability: Galvanised posts and recycled plastic weights ensure a solid, non-penetrative base.

• Wind Resistance: Engineered to withstand wind loads in line with BS 6399: Part 2: 1995.

• Ease of Installation: Modular design allows quick assembly without roof penetration.

• Sustainable Choice: Counterweights made from recycled plastic reduced the project’s carbon footprint.

• Durability: Galvanised components ensure long-term weather resistance.
