Crash Barrier System
HarperCollins Distribution Centre Project
Kite Group supplied galvanised crash barriers for HarperCollins’ Glasgow warehouse, safeguarding pedestrians, racks, and vehicles while ensuring durability and compliance.
Project Overview
HarperCollins, one of the world’s largest publishing houses, operates a major distribution centre in Robroyston, Glasgow to manage large-scale storage and logistics.
With constant vehicle movement, pedestrian traffic, and valuable assets on site, the facility required a robust safety solution to protect staff, infrastructure, and equipment from potential collisions.
Kite’s Contribution
Kite Group supplied and installed a comprehensive crash barrier system tailored to the site’s safety needs:
- Enhanced Safety: Barriers safeguard racking, walkways, machinery, and staff, reducing the risk of accidents in high-traffic areas.
- Durability: Made from high-quality galvanised steel, the system withstands the impact of a 1,500kg vehicle travelling at 10mph.
- Compliance: Fully compliant with BS6399–1:1996, BS6180:1999 and Department for Transport standards, ensuring long-term reliability and regulatory approval.
By implementing this solution, Kite helped HarperCollins improve operational efficiency, staff safety, and asset protection within its state-of-the-art facility.
